Dollar Bin Horror Spotlight - Confessions of a Scream Queen by Matt Beckoff (Book Review)

In Confessions of a Scream Queen, writer Matt Beckoff interviews fifteen legendary 'Ladies of Horror.' Spanning over nine decades of cinema, Confessions is filled with entertaining and informative recollections and personal insights about Hollywood's best-loved horror films. Included are some rare and never before seen pictures.

This book is a must have for any fan of women in the horror genre. Matt sits down and talks so some of the most influential women in the genre, and when they talk, you want to listen. Most of the interviews surround how these women became the scream queens they are today and fond memories of their careers. Karen Black, Ingrid Pitt, and Jessica Harper are just a few of the amazing names in this collection of interviews. The images are very impressive and some of them are exclusive to this book. They really show the change in the genre as the years progressed and the differences in the generations of women in horror. The only complaint I had about the book was there wasn't a lot of incites to what happened behind the scenes of some of these ladies' biggest films. I would have loved to get the scoop on how it was working on some of those sets. Other than that, this book is a great, fun, and easy read that every self respecting horror fan should at least check out. You can find out more at Matt's facebook HERE!

I've always appreciated the scream queens. From a very young age (6) I wanted to be Fay Wray after seeing King Kong!
