Dollar Bin Film - "Theater of Blood"

A Shakespearean actor takes poetic revenge on the critics who denied him recognition. He kills each of them in the manner of a Shakespearian tragedy. Not only is this one of the legendary Vincent Price's personal favorites and bests, its one of mine. At the end of each murder, he recites Shakspeare's gripping lines, which shows off the brilliant acting ability of Price (as price always wanted to be a Shakespearian actor). I love anything with Price so I have no choice but to recommend this film to any horror fan. In fact, any Vincent Price film is a must have in my book, but definitely this one.

Dollar Bin Film - "Freaks"

A circus' beautiful trapeze artist agrees to marry the leader of side-show performers, but his deformed friends discover she is only marrying him for his inheritance. This film was one of the most controversial films of its time because director Tod Browning took the exceptional step of casting real people with deformities as the sideshow "freaks," rather than using costumes and makeup. This film is a classic and a must have for all horror fans. It was ahead of it's time the and is still a wonderful film that stood the tests of time to become a cult classic.

Dollar Bin Film - "Bloodlust"

Two couples are on a boating trip when they come across an uncharted island. The four investigate and find themselves in the clutches of Dr. Albert Balleau, whose hobby is hunting both animals and humans. The hunt includes Balleau's sailor henchmen and hidden traps, as well as Balleau's deadly skill. This film is a wonderful 1960's piece and is certainly worth a look.

Dollar Bin Film - "Anatomy of a Psycho"

A young man is angry over the conviction and execution of his older brother. Having idolized his brother, the young man cannot believe he was guilty, even though he was, and swears to avenge him. He decides to carry out his revenge by tracking down and killing all the officials and jurors responsible for his brother's trial and execution. Rumored to be based on a story written by Ed Wood, using the pseudonym Larry Lee, this film has B-movie written all over it. If your a fan of crime thrillers and B-movies, this is a perfect film for you.

Dollar Bin Film - "Revolt of the Zombies"

A Cambodian priest comes to aid the French during World War One. He to uses his powers to make an army of zombies to help the French win the war. When a successful demonstration frightens the French as much as the enemy the priest is locked up to save mankind from his power and an international expedition is sent into Cambodia to destroy an ancient formula that turns men into zombies. Made by the same man who made White Zombie (to some, this film is concidered something of a sequel), this film is definatly worth checking out.

Dollar Bin Film - "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"

The deranged Dr. Caligari and his faithful sleepwalking Cesare are connected to a series of murders in a German mountain village, Holstenwall. This 1920 silent film is one of the most important films in horror. Moody and shocking, this chiller is the height of German Expressionist cinema and the prototype for whole genres in horror. Rob Zombie even modeled the music video for Living Dead Girl after this film. If you are a self respecting horror fan, you MUST own this film!

Dollar Bin Film - "Circus of Fear"

Circus Of Fear is a classic style whodunit thriller set at a traveling circus outside of London that also has to do with an armored car robbery. The robbery, somehow connected with the big top, goes awry leading to murder, double crossings, mistaken identities, blackmail and revenge. This British film, adapted from an Edgar Wallace novel, co stars the Legend Christopher Lee and is absolutely worth a look by any classic horror fan. And for $1, its a steal!

Dollar Bin Film - "Carnival of Souls"

After being the only survivor of a car accident that killed two of her friends, Mary Henry is haunted by spirits and is frequently drawn to a nearby abandoned carnival, where she discloses a dark secret. This classic film is cheaply made, grainy, and has a pretty basic story line, but this is one effective film if you're into dread. It was remade in 1998, but it couldn't even stand in the same room as this classic's candle. Not a big gore or special effects peice, but if you love having that uneasy feeling after watching a good film, get this movie!

Dollar Bin Film - "White Zombie"

On the island of Haiti, a selfish young man turns to a witch doctor (Lugosi) to lure the woman he loves away from her fiance, but instead turns her into a zombie slave. This 1932 movie is considered the first zombie film...ever. Whether your a fan of horror in general, classic films, Bela Lugosi or you just love zombies, this movie is a MUST have in your collection. And it stars the LEGEND Bela Lugosi...what more could you ask for $1!

Dollar Bin Film - "The Hitch-Hiker"

Two men on a fishing trip pick up a hitchhiker named Emmett Myers, who turns out to be a psychopath who has committed multiple murders. The film is based on the true story of Billy Cook, a psychopathic murderer, and is considered the first film noir directed by a woman, Ida Lupino. I love the feel of old Hollywood crime and this film oozes it. William Talman's performance as the psychotic Emmet Myers is worth way more than the buck you'll pay for this movie gem.

Dollar Bin Film - "The Brain That Wouldn't Die"

A scientist develops a means to keep human body parts alive. When he unexpectedly must use his discovery on someone close to him, events do not go as planned. This film is one of my personal favorite finds. It has all the charm of crazy scientist films, such as Frankenstein, and it's even been made into a musical! I found this science-fiction/horror film, directed by Joseph Green, as a double feature with another film, but this was the gem. I highly recommend you find this film!

Dollar Bin Film - "The House by the Cemetery"

This is one of my favorite recent finds in a local dollar store. It's directed by the Italian gore lord, Lucio Fulci. A crazed killer lives in the basement of an old mansion and pops out occasionally to commit gory murders that include be-headings, ripped throats, and stabbings with a fireplace poker. The killer needs fresh body parts to rejuvenate his cells. He also has maggots for blood. The plot is a little weak, true, but if you love 80's films, and gore gore gore, get this movie!

Dollar Bin Film - "The Terror"

This $1, low budget gem from Roger Corman stars Boris Karloff and a very young Jack Nicholson. Jack stars as Lieutenant Andre Duvalier, a young officer in Napoleon's army who pursues a mysterious woman to the castle of an elderly Baron, played by Boris Karloff. The whole vintage horror flick persona, dramatic music, and fuzzy-staticky screen, oh yeah...this dvd has it. This movie's sure to be a treat for any fan of early '60s camp. Of course it has it's flaws in the story line, and depending on the company producing the dvd, the sound may be a little fuzzy, but for $1, a young Jack Nicholson, and Boris Karloff...it's a steal!
