It Came From Netflix:The Black Cat(1981)

By Eric Polk-
Not to be confused with the Bela Lugosi film of the same name, The Black Cat is an Italian thriller directed by legendary filmmaker, Lugio Fulci. Sadly, this movie is subpar at best.

The film is about a detective who investigates the recent deaths of many in a small village. He sees they lead to a psychic professor who turns the spirits into his cat, which he uses to cause harm to others. That's it. Nothing more complicated. Overall, though there were some good scenes of gore, the movie was pretty silly. One of the death scenes was laughable and there were prolonged bits of boredom.

As for the cat, it was non-CGI or animatronic which is great but some of the things it does makes you scratch your head(opening a barn door all by itself). When its not being silly, its being vulgar(the cat hanging). Unless you're a hardcore Fulci fan, skip it.

This is one of my least favorite Fulci flicks. I remember it just dragged. Also, am I remembering correctly in that there were an absurd amount of extreme close-ups of eyes...?

That is correct....I've got a zoom function and I'm gonna use it, by gawd!!! LOL.
