Splurge Of The Week : Dance of the Dead

On the night of the big High-School Prom, the dead rise to eat the living, and the only people who can stop them are the losers who couldn't get dates to the dance.

I've had this movie sitting around for about a month, but Just watched it yesterday after Patrick included it in his top zombie films. After seeing it, I would like to add it to mine! This movie has everything you could ever want in a film; romance, action, blood, geeks, cute boys, hot girls, I mean EVERYTHING! It mixes the action and high intensity of any great zombie flick with the emotions and charm of a date night film. Plus, being that I was the biggest nerd in the world in high school, it's nice to see a film where the geeks are the big heroes who save the day and get the girl! The film was amazingly written, directed, and the zombies look so fucking cool! If you haven't seen this yet, drop what your doing and find this movie!

I got to see this movie at a screening a couple of years ago. It was my first horror movie convention and this was one of the two movies that my friend and me went to the screening for. I rolled my eyes some at the title of the movie, but I ended up loving it. I think it gets over looked a lot, so glad to see someone else giving it some love.

Dance of the Dead is one of the best zombie films that I have seen in a while. It does have everything I want in a film. Thanks for the review!

I loved this film too. Wasn't really expecting much and it turned out to be a really fun zombie flick. Nice to see others showing this one some love.

I quite liked the movie when I watched it and certainly was entertained, but quickly forgot pretty much everything about it. I really don't think it has an original bone in its body and pretty much just goes through the motions.

What an odd coincidence. Last night I watched this very same movie, also for the first time. Likewise, I also loved it. The creators knew exactly what they wanted and went with it.

Heck, there were even a few nods to some other zombie films, such as the cemetery caretaker, who had a striking similarity to Francesco Dellamorte from 'Cemetery Man'.

Granted, there were a number of scenes that were predictable. Sometimes that's a negative, but I don't believe so in this case. It was just a fun ride and I enjoyed it, much like 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Zombieland'. It's hard to beat a zombie comedy.

On a side note, I particularly liked the zombies that just burst out of the graves and hit the ground running.

Very fun flick.

It had some Buffy humor in this. I think I ranked it #7 or so in my top movies of 2007.
