My Top 5 Christmas Horror Films for the Holiday Season

It's that time of year again. Peace on earth, Good will toward men, yada yada yada...What about us? The horror fan? Whats out there for us? Well I gathered a list of my 5 favorite Christmas themed horror movies just for you. Enjoy!

#5 Gremlins
A boy inadvertently breaks 3 important rules concerning his new pet and unleashes a horde of malevolently mischievous monsters on a small town.
When I was little, this movie fucked me up. I hated those little evil Gremlins and thought they were under my bed. But no fear, the cute little Gizmo is here! This film is actually more warm hearted than the others on this list, but for the simple fact that I had to check under my bed when I was little, this film makes the list...wait did you hear that?...*lifts blankets*...

#4 Black Christmas
A sorority house is terrorized by a stranger who makes frightening phone calls and then murders the sorority sisters during Christmas break.
Now when i talk about this film, I am referring to the original, not that god awful remake people called a film. The original was a stylish holiday slasher film that was actually pretty scary. If you haven't see the original, please do cause it kills the remake.

#3 Silent Night Deadly Night
After his parents are murdered, a young tormented teenager goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa, due to his stay at an orphanage where he was abused by the Mother Superior.
This film caused a riot of controversy in 1984 and was pull from theaters. It was then re-released by a independent film distributor in 1986, all because the killer was dressed as Santa (but no one said shit about Christmas Evil...huh?) Anyway it's a good horror film, a great cult classic, so go check it out.

#2 Christmas Evil
A psycho in a Santa suit gets to decide who's been naughty and who's been nice.
For all it's low budget faults, this is a really good film. It follows Harry's decent into madness and hell, i kinda felt sorry for him. I got this film on vhs about a 3 years ago and watch it every year around this time. This film is certainly worth a peak this holiday season so you better check it out, cause Santa's watching your ass!

#1 Jack Frost
A serial killer dies, comes back as a snowman, and wreaks havoc.
Ok this film is just silly. The story line is so far out there, Neil Armstrong could walk on it. But none the less, I fucking LOVE this movie. The shower scene made me laugh so hard, I nearly fell off my couch. Maybe I'm sick in the head, but this film makes me feel good every time I watch it, so it's at the top of my list!

Well there you have it folks. Here my favorite films in Holiday Horror. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, What the fuck ever.
Sending Deadly Kisses,
Rhonny Reaper

There just aren't too many Christmas-themed horror movies, which is honestly surprising! But this is a solid little list. God, I vaguely remember that Silent Night, Deadly Night controversy. It only made me want to see the movie more, even though I was way too young for it. Gremlins was more my speed, but yeah it freaked me out too--especially when they kill Mrs. Deagle. Even though she had it coming.

I just discovered Xmas Evil last week and fell promptly in love as well.

Any thoughts on the Jack Frost sequel (which I love beyond good health)?

Oh God, that one is priceless too, Emily! BJ-C just spotlighted the poster for Jack Frost 2 for Terrible Poster Tuesday last week!

"The story line is so far out there, Neil Armstrong could walk on it."

That might be the most brilliant one-liner I've read in a week.

Black Christmas is freaking great. If i could build a time machine I'd go back to the mid 70's and try to convince margot kidder to marry me.

I'm in the Olivia Hussey boat. She was a knockout.

Great list. I actually like SN, DN part 2 better if only for its more way over the top, absurd, ridiculousness.

you know I actually haven't seen part 2. Now i must rent it! thanks

Sadly SNDN 2 is currently out of print, but do your best to track down a copy. Or just youtube "Garbage Day Silent NIght Deadly Night" (I have a link from my blog back here: http://deadlydollshouse.blogspot.com/2009/11/black-sunday.html; I'd send you the youtube link but i can't get there at work!).

The movie is magnificently awful, with most of its running time using flashbacks from the first film and the original bits being overacted to levels that would make Nic Cage feel inadequate. Therefore, it's a must watch!
