Day 21 "favorite medical horror" of the 30 day horror challenge

To be honest, I'm surprised we don't get more medical themed horror thrillers each year as this is a genre ripe for the picking. Think about, people have an inherent fear of hospitals, going into surgery, of receiving treatment. Haven't you ever known someone who wouldn't go get treatment at one point or another simply because they don't like hospitals. Now you know what I am talking about! Coma exploited that fear to full effect. The House on Haunted Hill remake combined a haunted house story with the dark chapter of America's past in regards to medical treatment and created a bone chilling film. Or another favorite of mine, The Harvest, which uses the good old kidney heist urban legend as the film's central film premise. All of these are fine films, but I think they get overshadowed by the original medical thriller and my personal favorite of this sub-genre. So I give you.......drumroll.........

Sutures - If you've been to a hospital for some kind of illness or injury and had to receive treatment or surgery, you know there's been this certain apprehension that you've had about getting whatever form of treatment you got. Now imagine a horror film centered around that. Sutures finds all kinds of grisly, but highly effective and potent ways for the main characters to get unwilling medical treatments that are far more deadly to them then they are beneficial. These set pieces tap into that fear and use that fear to create cringe worthy moments throughout Sutures. However, Sutures isn't all gory murders. It's a well acted film with a veteran cast of players. It also happens to be stylishly directed with striking photography. For some odd reason, horror fans haven't embraced this film and for the most part its been panned, but I have to disagree and say that this is one of the most underrated horror films of the past year or so.

So which film would you have picked? ....to take part, the rules are below, or you can check out the Facebook fan page and interact with everyone else that's taking part by visiting:
