Dollar Bin Film - Spring Break Shark Attack

Well just in case you couldn't figure out the plot synopsis from the title alone, here's one for you- Spring breakers become lunch meat for some hungry sharks. Oh and there is some roofies and attempted date rape along the way to add a little 50's movie flair.

Since this was a made for TV film, it's awfully bland and vanilla as the film can't play up to the sexual aspect of spring break and partying. The violence is toned down and the gore is minimal. Similarities between this and the recent Piranha remake are certainly evident as it appears as though Piranha copied quite a bit of the plotting from this film, but the difference is that Piranha has vigor, it has energy. It has gore. It has nudity. Piranha played up to the inherent trashiness of the material gleefully while Spring Break Shark Attack shies away from those aspects due to its made for TV origins. Spring Break Shark Attack is made watchable due its (purposely?!?) corny dialogue, cheap looking special effects, some dopey situations and a cast that's easy on the eyes. However, Spring Break Shark Attack was not suited for the broadcast television medium. At the very least, this should have been a cable television movie. At least there Spring Break Shark Attack could have cut loose instead of being so restrained. -Brandon Sites (http://bigdaddyhorrorreviews.com/)
