Dollar Bin Film - The Initation of Sarah (1978)

College student is recruited to join a sorority that is seen as somewhat of the black sheep on campus by the more popular sororities. There, with the assistance of the house mother, she taps into powers that allow her to control objects whenever she gets mad enough.

Slow moving TV movie in which hardly anything ever really happens. The title character of the film taps into the powers that she has when she gets mad. She fights with her sister in connection to a rivalry with a feuding sorority. And her house mother promises the return of their sorority's prominence via an initiation. For about a good 85 minutes that's all that really happens in the film. Viewers are just left wondering throughout if anything, something is eventually going to happen as The Initiation of Sarah sluggishly goes about from one scene to another. This is all the more surprising considering that this film is seen as something of a minor classic and even has done well enough throughout the years to have merited a remake. The Initiation of Sarah finally comes to life for the finale where Key Lenz and Shelley Winters get to show that their is some spark and fury to their characters, but to have to sit through a nearly non-existent movie for 85 minutes to arrive at this finale, it's truly too little too late.

Huh. Sounds like the long lost script for "Carrie Goes To College"...

it's quite a masterpiece compared to the remake which is a super-boring crapfest
