Teaser Trailer for La Casa Muda (The Silent House)

I recently got an email from Gustavo Rojo, producer of an upcoming horror film called La Casa Muda (The Silent House) and was asked to spread the word about it. It looks good so here's a little info on it.

Laura ( Florencia Colucci) and her father ( Gustavo Alonso) settle down in a cottage which seems to be off the beaten track in order to update it since its owner ( Abel Tripaldi) will soon put the house on sale. They will spend the night there in order to start the repairs the following morning. Everything seems to go on smoothly until Laura hears a sound that comes from outside and gets louder and louder in the upper floor of the house. Wilson goes up to see what is going on while she remains downstairs on her own waiting for her father to come down. The plot is based on a true story that happened some time ago in a small village in Uruguay . “ La Casa Muda ” focuses on the last seventy eight minutes, second by second, when Laura intends to leave the house which hides an obscure secret and she hopes to leave unharmed.

Check out the Trailer too!

Dollar Bin Horror Spotlight - OneThirtyEight

OneThirtyEight is a very unique band form London who specializes in strange yet simple and macabre music. They just released their debut full-length album called London Transmissions and sent it to me for review.
It comes as a CD+DVD double feature, so I'll start with the CD first. The music is mostly instrumental, and has a wonderful eeriness to it. It sounds like great horror movie music thats still enjoyable without the movie. The first track it probably my favorite. It's called Spider Baby, Baby and it's one of the track with vocals, but not singing. It's a man talking as if he's a doctor keeping a vocal diary of his experiments and its creepy as hell. The CD is definitely worth checking out.
The DVD part is pretty good as well. It contains short films/music videos for many of the tracks. Some of them are wonderful low budget gems, such as Spider Baby, Baby, Happiness, The Man who made Monsters, and the best of them all, Sensation of the Season, which was made with stop motion animation. The other two, The Amazing transparent Man and A Row of Pigs Heads, were shot and looked great, but I wanted more of a story put together.
Overall, this combo is great and definitely worth checking out! The band was even kind enough to sit down for an interview, so enjoy!

Q: How did you come up with the name OneThirtyEight?

A: Well, you have Misfits ‘We Are 138’ and the film ‘THX 1138’ this is where the name comes from, and where the meaning behind the name comes from. To me, Onethirtyeight meant no rules, no laws, no restrictions… I really can’t see the achievement in regurgitating someone else’s sound, even if it is my peers. Creatively it leaves me flat. This is a vehicle for me to express myself and to create an accurate picture of what’s in my mind.

Q: How did you get started making music and short films to go along with them?

A: As soon as I started learning the guitar, I started to write my own songs, and it just built from there, playing in bands etc. When I write it’s very visual, I can see what’s happening, so I started making short films to go with my music, there was interest and they started showing at film festivals and on TV What inspires me? Sci-fi, horror, dreams, the unknown… strange unexpected things... the twilight zone… everything… I'm not a fussy man.

Q: Could you tell a little bit about the collaboration that went into making the amazing video for "Sensation of the Season"?

A: I have a huge passion for sideshows. One of my favorite performers is Unzie, who went round the world exhibiting his pure white skin and mighty mass of hair. He was the nucleus of Sensations of The Season. We wanted Unzie meets Dr Phibes and that’s what we got.
Jan Stephens is a very good friend of mine. He is an extremely talented artist/animator, and has such a unique style, He’s made wonderful short films himself Danny Silk: Intergalactic Exterminator and The Infestation of the Nutty Joes. You should check them out! Jan had created some great posters for me when my films started playing at various film festivals, for ‘Spider Baby, Baby’ and ‘The Man Who Made Monsters’… We decided to work together on a piece and out came ‘Sensations Of The Season’, with Sharif Salah’s finishing touches, the end result was a fantastical freak-show.

Q: Where can the readers find out more?

A: You can find out all about Onethirtyeight… All the music, videos and t-shirts at www.myspace.com/onethirtyeightmusic. I have just released my first full-length album - A CD and DVD package called London Transmissions. It’s like a radio show... a pirate radio show, beamed out from London... There’s a whole host of strange tales just waiting to be heard. Tune in… tune out…. 12 tracks and 7 videos, an other-worldly extravaganza!

Dollar Bin Film - "Night Train to Terror"

God and Satan are on-board a train and discuss the fate of three individuals.
Holy crap is this film bad. Not just cheesy 80's bad, but Bad bad! Cheap special effects (if you can call them special), poor dialogue, horrible editing and strange stop motion animation make up what can only be called the worst film I ever liked...yes you heard right, my affection for bad movies has poured onto this little biddy. I found all the horrible-ness entertaining as hell and if you love to see crap, you will too.
Sending Deadly Kissed,
Rhonny Reaper

I Made Another One!

Looky What I Made!

What do think of my pencil drawing? It's Susan Atkins AKA "Sadie Mae Glutz" from the Mason Family (I added the "X" cause it looked right lol). It looks better in person, but this is the best my camera can do lol.

Dollar Bin Film - "Nightmare in Wax"

The disfigured curator of a wax museum murders his enemies and then uses their bodies as exhibits in his museum.
This House of Wax rip-off is a good example of a bad Cameron Mitchell movie, complete with all the sleaze and cheese that goes along with it. The thing that hurt this film the most, aside from the acting and slow as hell pace, is the fact that it's so damn obvious Vincent is the killer, it gets quite boring watching the detectives try to figure it out! But to counter act it, there are some pretty good death scenes. It's a good movie night flick, but I ain't jumping out of my seat.

Dollar Bin Horror Spotlight - SerialKillerCalendar.com

Serial Killer Calendar was created by James Gilks and Kristopher Saunders. It has grown to be one of the largest true crime sites on the web, featuring artist's paintings, sketches, and artwork of different serial killers such as Manson, Bundy, and Gein. I recently had the honor to interview co-creator James Gilks for a place in the Dollar Bin Horror Spotlight.

Q: How and why did you start serialkillercalendar.com?

A: I also run a design studio called MadHatterDesign.net. Several years ago I met Nico Claux (The Vampire of Paris) and offered to do his personal website in exchange for the rights to reproduce some of his serial killer paintings in a calendar. From there the company grew slowly and began to snowball in to what it is today. Personally I have always been interested in true crime and I think that, deep down, most Americans are too (whether they want to admit it or not). I used to love reading up on serial killers and trying to figure out what made them tick. I was just lucky enough to transform my hobby in to a company and create merchandise that I would love to buy. Honestly, if I did not own the company I would probably spend most of my money buying the products anyway.

Q: Where do you find the amazing artists who create the one of a kind drawing that go into your Magazine, Calendar, and trading cards?

A: At first we hunted down any and all artists who specialized in true crime (Nico Claux, Jack Malebranche, Johnny Machine, Chuck Hodi, etc) but in the last couple of years we have become such a household name (at least in the morbid households) that artists usually approach us to work on future projects. We generally get at least 1 email every two days from someone who wants to make artwork for the company or write for the magazine. We try to never turn anyone down and we are more than happy to give a new artists or writer the kind of world wide exposure that they might not be able to receive on there own.

Q: Could you tell my readers about how they can join the serialkillercalendar.com Street Team, like I am :) ?

A: Just contact me (James Gilks) at madhatterdesign.net. We are always looking for more people to help us spread the word on websites and any other form of media. Remember, without our loyal fan base, we wouldn't be able to create all the gruesome goodies and morbid merch we do today. I cant thank our customers and our street team enough for keeping this company alive.

Q: What's coming up next for serialkillercalendar.com?

A: Well, we recently put in the order for our first case of "MANSON FAMILY CULT-A-COLA". This is our new, professionally produced, limited time energy drink featuring Manson Family illustrations on the can by the amazingly talented Italian artist, Nicholas Raimo. These things look amazing and are definitely going to turn some heads. These should show up on the site for sale by next month. We are also gearing up for issue 8 of Serial Killer Magazine (in Borders, Barnes and Nobel, B Dalton and other major stores now) and a ton of other true crime goodies. So keep checking the site and thanks again for being a fan!

Five Dolla Holla: The Descent

As I stated yesterday, I'm gonna be starting a weekly post highlighting the awesome deals you can get from five dollar and discount bins. Maybe a little more than a buck, but still a damn good deal!

A caving expedition goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators.
This movie is simply amazing. The visuals of the cave are beautiful, the acting is good, the story is well written, and by golly it's a horror movie that has some horror in it! And for all of you who love your female horror flicks, the only man in the movie is killed off in the first 10 minutes, so it's women power all the way! But just cause it's all girls, don't expect any lack of gore and violence, cause it's in there! Definitely a must buy.
